Susan Bromell

Legal Executive

Susan joined the firm in 1993 at the age of 18 working initially as a receptionist and secretary.  She soon acted on her ambition and, fully supported and sponsored by the firm, undertook various courses which ultimately led to her admission as a Member of the Institute of Legal Executives in 2000.

She was a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives and is now a Chartered Legal Executive following the recent Royal Charter.

Susan has remained loyal to the firm and remains here almost 20 since first joining the staff!  She currently works part time to allow for the demands of her young family.

Susan works in the Private Client Team in our Holsworthy Office in Devon.  She mainly deals with Trust Administration.  She also deals with property transactions within the Private Client Department.  Among other things, this may  include the transfer of property in accordance with the terms of a Will or the transfer of property by means of a lifetime gift e.g. between a parent and child.

Susan says: “When dealing with trust administration, it is  vital to balance the interests of all the parties.  A  typical  scenario  may be where a husband leaves a life interest in his estate to his wife who is not the mother of his children.  She is therefore  entitled to the income from the estate during her lifetime with the capital being due to the deceased’s children upon her death.

My job is to work closely with all parties, including  the Financial Advisors, to ensure that the trust is managed correctly in order to balance the interests of both the life tenant and the ultimate beneficiaries”
